Travelers

Ardning

You could make a big mistake very close to the Bosruck tunnel: namely, to leave Ardning in the Gesäuse on the left. This is a destination for friends of relaxation. Why? There is one of the last raised bogs in the Alps - the visitor-friendly Pürgschachen Moor.

In addition, the pilgrimage church Frauenberg and the Ardningalm await you with hiking routes to nearby Upper Austria, as well as the very unique natural swimming pool in Frauenberg. Ardning calls itself “Erholungsdorf”. You can see right away how the community of 1,200 people - from which the action artist Günter Brus comes from - can keep this promise with its location on the popular Enns Cycle Path.

If you are looking for relaxation while hiking, the Ardningalm hut is the perfect address. There you can park your car and see what is going on a few meters further up in the Haller Walls. The good thing about it: From the easy Alpine tour including the Alpine Museum to the Wildfrauen climbing route, everything is included. If you can confidently do without altitude, you can treat yourself to a trip to one of the last high moors in the Alps. The strictly protected habitat called Pürgschachen Moor is worth seeing and can be experienced from a soft, upholstered nature trail. Relaxation and a mystical experience for the whole family! In winter there are numerous ski tours to explore the Gesäuse, one of the most popular ski touring areas in the Eastern Alps.
