fashionable counterpart Seefeld. Life here in Leutasch is a little slower, easier and more relaxed,

Seefeld Olympia Region
A winter wonderland for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, the Seefeld plateau and its many pretty villages offer perfect snow conditions and plenty of sunshine. The region will host the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019.
Situated on a sunny high plateau between the Mieminger Mountains, the Karwendel Nature Park and the Wetterstein Mountains, Seefeld has a special micro-climate which gives it thick snow cover and protection from the warm Föhn wind. This makes it popular with skiers and in particular cross-country skiers, who enjoy exploring the area’s large network of trails. The village was used for the Nordic disciplines when Innsbruck hosted the Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976. It has also hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships once and often welcomes the international elite as part of the World Cup. In 2019 Seefeld will host the Nordic World Ski Championships for the second time in its history, with its high density of four-star and five-star hotels playing an important role in the bid.
Summer: electric bikes, castle ruins and swimming lakes
Seefeld’s attractions are by no means restricted to winter. In summer it draws many visitors thanks to its many mountain bike and hiking trails. One of the most popular walks in the region is the easy Three Lake Trail from Seefeld, which takes in three idyllic swimming lakes: Möserer See, Lottensee and Wildmoos-See. Guests interested in history can visit the Fragenstein castle ruins near Zirl and walk back through the impressive Schlossbachklamm canyon, including a section crossing underneath a railway bridge used by trains running between Innsbruck and Seefeld. Cyclists who want to take it easy will find more than 90 electric bikes available for hire at about 20 stations in the region. There are also two 18-hole golf courses in the area, one in Seefeld-Wildmoos and one in Seefeld-Reith.
Mountain Biking in Seefeld Olympia Region
Seefeld Olympia Region is a mountain biker’s playground, offering everything from easy tours to challenging singletrack.
Cycling in Seefeld Olympia Region
Base yourself in Seefeld Olympia Region and spend days exploring the epic road and recreational cycling on offer on the sunny upland plateau.
Hiking in Seefeld Olympia Region
The Seefeld Olympia Region has plenty of walking and hiking options for visitors of all ages and fitness levels, with plenty of fresh mountain air at 1,200 metres above sea level.
To the west of Seefeld is the Wildmoos nature reserve with the Three Lakes Circular Hike taking in, as the name suggests, three lakes: Möserer See, Lottensee and Wildmoos-See. Interestingly, the Lottensee and Wildmoos-See are lakes which only appear for a short period of time, usually as the snows of winter melt, before disappearing once again. To the west of Leutasch families will enjoy the Ganghofer Trail in the Gaistal Valley famed for its lush pastures and fabulous views of the craggy Wetterstein Mountains and Mieming Mountains – including the iconic Hohe Munde peak with its curved profile. Another top tiü for families is the Karwendelschlucht gorge near Scharnitz, at the entrance to the Karwendel Nature Park. Advanced and expert hikers can take on stage 11 of the Eagle Walk. The hike begins at the Karwendelhaus and ends at the Hallerangerhaus. Stage 15, from the Solsteinhaus above Zirl to Leutasch, is also within the Seefeld Olympia Region. Both stages of the Eagle Walk include between 800 and 1,400 vertical metres of uphill.
Climbing in the Seefeld Olympic Region
The Seefeld Olympic Region has welcomed climbers for more than 100 years.
Though there are only a handful of climbing areas between Leutasch and Scharnitz, they include one of the most popular in the area around the regional capital Innsbruck: the "Chinesische Mauer" ("Wall of China"). Smaller but no less challenging is the Mauerbogen climbing area.
Sport climbing in the Seefeld Olympic Region
To the north of Leutasch lies the iconic "Chinesische Mauer", a sheer rockface visible from many miles away. With more than 170 routes, it is a real hotspot in the climbing scene. However, there are no routes suitable for beginners. Most are rated 7 or 8, making them only suitable for experienced climbers, while others contain difficulties such as overhanging sections. The smaller Mauerbogen climbing area further south is similar but has more climbing for beginners.
Climbing for families in the Seefeld Olympic Region
The Flämenwandl climbing area on the banks of the Leutascher Ache river is a family-friendly location with more than 20 well-secured routes rated between 3 and 6b+. As well as the climbing routes themselves it also offers seating and a BBQ area next to the rushing river.
